Tokyo Baycourt Spa, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan (2002-2004)
The winning entry in an international competition, this resort was my first international assignment. I personally led the design team and also presented to the Resorttrust Ownership at their headquarters in Nagoya, Japan. The Interior Design concept for this project was filtered through an art-deco vocabulary based on ‘Hollywood Glamor’ of the 1930’s. A ‘dream client’, Resorttrust requested we push the envelope further than previously designed. A floating infinity pool overlooking the Ginza district suspended between 2 towers – and oh yes – a glass roof with a helicopter pad perched in the center!
