Susan Borden Residence, Banff, AB (2011-2014)
Originally built for Banff’s first Post Office Warden, this iconic residence had been renovated and added onto during its 100 year history. Working in conjunction with Sturgess Architecture, a comprehensive renovation strategy was developed in conjunction with Susan and Bob Borden. A care-free and easy-to-use residence was constructed with natural materials: the wood ceilings reclaimed from a 200 year old Quebec barn, the white oak plank floors from sustainable forests in France, ceramic tiles handmade in Sausalito, CA. Susan's wide-ranging travels provided inspiration for an eclectic arrangement of the very finest furnishings. Furniture ‘groupies’ will no doubt identify the iconic pieces; overall the look and feel is a cozy mountain residence.
